We are looking for a Scientific Officer (engineer or natural scientist) (m/f/d) to support the management of the department “Research Coordination” of the Scientific Management as soon as possible.

Your tasks:

Administrative science management tasks at the coordinating interface between research, management, and strategic planning on issues related to the programmatic, structural, and technical development of the research center include, in particular, participation in:

  • Supporting the scientific management in questions of cross-center strategy development in dialog and close cooperation with the scientific institutes
  • Content consolidation, processing and coordination of input from the scientific institutes for the scientific management as well as for external inquiries
  • Conception and preparation of speeches, greetings and lectures for the Scientific Executive Board
  • Preparation and follow-up of meetings of the Center’s advisory bodies, external steering committees of the Helmholtz Association, and scientific/technical consortia and associations
  • Preparation and follow-up of strategy workshops and reviews in the context of program-oriented funding of the Helmholtz Association
  • Conception and preparation of visit programs for guests from science, politics and economy

Your profile:

  • University degree in engineering or natural sciences (doctorate preferred) with subject-related proximity to the materials research activities at the Center (Helmholtz Research Fields Information & Matter)
  • several years of professional experience in science management at a university or a non-university research institution
  • Experience regarding the conception and writing of speeches and greetings
  • Very good knowledge of the German research landscape
  • proficient in the use of standard Microsoft Office programs

Social and professional competence as well as above-average communication, coordination and teamwork skills are required for dealing with different interlocutors in internal and external communication. A high degree of flexibility and resilience as well as the willingness and ability to familiarize oneself with the broad range of tasks and topics of a modern research center are required.
