The Business Unit Corporate Development (UE) forms a central interface between the institutes, the Board of Directors and the administration of the research center. Research planning, the supervision of international cooperations and the promotion of young researchers are essential services for research. Further tasks include resource management, strategy development, innovation management and the supervision of EU affairs of the research center.

Research Management (UE-F) supports the Board of Directors and the institutes of the research center in technical and content-related matters concerning strategic orientation and the assessment of national and international developments. UE-F coordinates programmatic activities within the framework of the Helmholtz Association’s Program-oriented Funding (PoF) and mediates at the interface between internal and external research-related and administrative areas. In addition, UE-F supports initiatives in the field of European research funding on a content-related and strategic level.
Your tasks:
- You will be in charge of the main research areas of energy and information and will support Corporate Development and the Board of Directors in questions relating to the strategic orientation of the areas and the assessment of national and international developments
- You coordinate the activities for the research foci at the interface between research-related and administrative areas
- You will play a decisive role in program development and program monitoring within the framework of the program-oriented funding of the HGF
- You will write texts for the programmatic planning of the research center as well as for planning papers of the HGF and you will be responsible for the content and editorial work
- You will demonstrate your cooperative skills by assisting the Helmholtz committees and by performing tasks in the resource planning of the institutes in cooperation with the departments
- For the HGF assessment procedures that take place at regular intervals, you will prepare basic data and coordinate the implementation on site
- In science-adequate controlling, you track the results of the FE program of Forschungszentrum Jülich and present them in a suitable form for controlling and accountability purposes to the funding body
- In your research focus areas, you will be responsible for editing the center progress report and prepare other contributions for internal and external reporting
Your Profile:
- You have successfully completed a master’s degree in natural sciences or engineering and preferably your doctorate and ideally already have good knowledge of science management and committee work
- You are used to working conceptually and independently and are very interested in familiarizing yourself with complex topics
- You have already acquired basic knowledge and work experience in at least one of the topics from the HGF Research Field Energy
- In addition, a high affinity to the topics in the HGF Research Field Information is desirable
- You enjoy working in an interdisciplinary, science-related environment at the interface between science, administration, business and research policy
- Your strong analytical and strategic thinking skills help you to maintain an overview and focus on the essentials even in challenging situations
- You have a high level of communicative and social competence as well as an engaging and confident manner towards internal and external partners

The position is initially limited to 2 years. Remuneration and social benefits are provided depending on the existing qualifications and depending on the assignment of tasks in the range of pay group 13 according to the collective agreement of the public service (TVöD-Bund).
