Coastal Summer School 2024

The annual coastal summer school is realized in cooperation of some of the leading national centres for coastal research in Germany: Leibniz Institute for Baltic Research Warnemünde, Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon, Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research. The Coastal Summer School 2024 on Helgoland features the DAM project SustainMare. It addresses Phd students, young researchers working already in the field, and Msc grades. The language of the school is English.
The Coastal Summer School 2024 will take place on the North Sea island of Helgoland, located in the German Bight. Helgoland is the only German island located in the open sea, approximately 70 kilometers from the mainland. The rocky mudflat and the 35 square kilometer large submarine cliff landscape are home to the richest flora and fauna of the German coast – an oasis. Since 1892 scientists investigate this unique environment and since 1998 the Biological Institute Helgoland belongs to the Alfred Wegener Institute.
