10th EuroGOOS International Conference

In October 2023, the 10th EuroGOOS International Conference took place in Galway, Ireland. With over 160 participants, this in-person Conference covered all aspects of operational oceanography and its societal relevance. Four high-level plenary sessions dedicated to the UN Ocean Decade, Digital Twin Ocean, European Ocean Observing System (EOOS), and Future of Operational Oceanography were held. Additionally, over 80 presentations and 20 posters on all areas of operational oceanography were presented and discussed.

The event also awarded two prizes to early-career researchers for the scientific excellence, innovation, societal relevance, and quality of their work. Among them, Katharina Kordubel received the “Best early career oral presentation prize” for the presentation “Resolving the bloom dynamics and ecological role of Noctiluca scintillans in the southern North Sea”.
