Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon offers a 2 year postgraduate position. You will be working on “Regional 3D atmosphere and ocean modeling to quantify the impact of oceanic Hg sources” as part of a group of 15 international Early Stage Researchers under the integrated training network GMOS Train. Your working place will be at Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon, Geesthacht, Germany. The position includes secondments at international partner organizations.
The position will be for 2 years starting as soon as possible with a possible extension of 1 year. The candidate will be enrolled in a doctoral school. This position is eligible only for postgraduates without a PhD degree.
Your tasks:
- Application of regional atmospheric chemistry model systems for mercury
- Improvement of mercury chemistry in the model’s chemical mechanism
- Implementation of exchange processes between atmosphere and ocean in the model system
Your profile:
- Master degree in atmospheric sciences, environmental sciences or related scientific studies
- Experience in the application of complex atmospheric model systems
- Very good programming skills in python, R, C++ or similar programming languages
- Very good knowledge of the English language
- max. 1 year previous working time in Germany in the last 3 years
