HIDA Visiting Program

Dive into the fascinating data science world of the Helmholtz Association: The Helmholtz Information & Data Science Academy (HIDA) is launching a brand-new exchange program: The HIDA VISITING PROGRAM. We invite postdocs from Germany and around the world to our association of 18 independent research centers for short-term paid research stays.

Do you know that Hermann von Helmholtz was a polymath who made important contributions to optics, acoustics, electrodynamics, thermodynamics, and hydrodynamics. According to its name giver, the Helmholtz Association, Germany’s largest research organization, contributes to solving the major challenges facing society, science and the economy by conducting top-level research within the six research fields: Energy; Earth & Environment; Health; Aeronautics, Space & Transport; Matter and Information.

Visiting Program

There are in total 18 independent research centers in Germany. Especially within the field of information & data science, the Association’s broad spectrum of activities ranges from big data analytics, supercomputing, the entire data lifecycle and software development, right up to artificial intelligence and robotics. Helmholtz scientists collect huge quantities of data every day. Using this data, they generate knowledge that provides solutions to the greatest challenges of today and tomorrow.

Do you want to dive into this fascinating research world of the Helmholtz Association? Do you want to learn new methods and explore emerging research topics in the field of information & data science? Do you want to expand your network and start new collaborations with scientists from various Helmholtz Centers? – THEN become part of the HIDA Visiting Program!

The HIDA Visiting Program addresses postdocs from (inter)national research organizations and scientists in research-driven companies. Participants should have a master degree with at least 3 years research experience or a PhD, and a research focus in the (applied) information & data sciences. We offer financial support for a self-organized 3-month-long research stay in a department or research group at one of the 18 Helmholtz Centers.

Sounds interesting? Apply until October 1, 2021 (for exchanges within the year 2022). Further information can be found on our website.
