Thanks for putting a smile on our faces …

Hello, everyone!

In times when you might think there’s nothing but bad news, we wanted to tell you about a great idea that put a smile on the faces of all nine of us. Children at the Protestant day-care centre Zwergenland in the town of Girkhausen (North Rhine-Westphalia) made a lovely model of the Neumayer III Station and emailed us pictures of it. We think the model is a great likeness of our winter home, and were delighted to receive the photos. So we’d like to send a heartfelt “vergelts Gott” (bless you) and many thanks to the children and staff of Zwergenland; we hope you’ll be able to open your doors again soon!

Warm Antarctic wishes from the southern tip of the world, from the nine members of the 40th overwintering team at the Neumayer III Station!
