First polar bear spotted in this summer

It is not unusual for polar bears to be found in or around Ny-Alesund every now and then. The fact, that the first visit in 2015 was by a mother with her young cub, was a nice surprice for all inhabitants, and created some chaos since everyone wanted to see the bears through their binoculars and within the safety of the village. The mother and the cub had been spotted on the island Prinz Heinrich where they were sneaking for bird eggs. Afterwards they swam to the land, bypassed the village in a respectful distance and had a rest at the foot of Zeppelinfjellet for a few hours.
